I create art with pastel, watercolor, charcoal, ink and other drawing media on paper. I depict horses with movement and energy. And with expressive eyes that reveal the character and personality of the horse

Spanish Stallion, abstract equine art by Carol Engles
11 x 16 pastel and charcoal on paper. I love this technique. I drew in charcoal and then smudged it and added pastel and more charcoal. I also drew in the horse's eye in a more realistic style, because I think the eye is a strong focal point on a horse. Whenever I draw abstract horses, I want the eye to be realistic and not so abstract that it doesn't look like a horse's eye.
